Genshin Impact will open Snezhnaya region on August 12
HoYoverse has revealed details about one of the most massive updates in Genshin Impact's history. Version 7.0 launches on August 12, opening up Snezhnaya for exploration for the first time; it is the seventh and final region of Teyvat, having remained a mystery since the game's release.
Players will venture into a harsh land of eternal snow, icy plains, and extreme cold. A key feature of the new region is its railway system: players can traverse the vast territory not only on foot but also by train, significantly speeding up world exploration.
Navigating these new lands will be aided by a special tool called the "Eye of Gray." This multifunctional gadget protects the character from the biting cold, allows players to summon trains at specific points along the route, and enables the creation of "eternal ice" objects needed to solve puzzles and unlock hidden areas.
Another major addition is a full-fledged third-person shooting mode. Alongside this, the developers are introducing three new weapon types that will transform the way certain battles and challenges are played.

The combat system is also getting an overhaul. Version 7.0 introduces a new elemental status called "Star-Scatter," triggered by combining Anemo and Cryo elements. This new mechanic will serve as the foundation for certain character abilities and enable new combat combinations.
Two new heroes will make their debut in the first half of the update. A major highlight is Odette, a five-star Cryo character who wields a one-handed sword. She specializes in dealing AoE damage and buffing allies, and her abilities are closely tied to the "Star-Scatter" mechanic. Odette will be available via Prayer banners.
A new four-star Electro polearm user will also be added to the game. He serves as a support character, restoring ally health and enhancing the effects of the new combat mechanic. This hero can be unlocked after completing the new Archon Quest.
