Beta test of Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy has begun
Square Enix has kicked off the beta test for the mobile game Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, a continuation of the renowned series of hero battles from various installments of the franchise. Participation is currently available by invitation only for Android device owners.
Awaiting players are dynamic 3v3 battles in a vertical format with each team consists of three characters, and players can switch between them during battle — perfect for mobile devices. The arenas are designed as urban locations where, in the midst of battle, a giant boss suddenly appears, capable of attacking both sides and causing massive damage. This adds an element of chaos and unpredictability, forcing the team to instantly rethink their strategy.
By winning matches, players increase their ranking and earn season points, which can be exchanged for temporary rewards. These include special items called Growth Eggs, which are used to upgrade skills and unlock new abilities. Each character boasts up to five active skills, creating ample room for tactical experimentation and combo setups.

The progression system is based on a gacha mechanic. Dissidia Duellum features separate banners for heroes and weapons, plus skill banners where rare skills that influence combat tactics can be snagged. Some abilities are unique to specific characters, encouraging players to build a diverse collection of fighters.
The beta serves as a testing ground for balancing between PvP battles against PvE boss fights, gathering player feedback to refine gameplay. Developers will fine-tune the skill and reward systems based on player input following the beta.
