The "Moon V" update shakes up familiar locations in Genshin Impact
Publisher HoYoverse has announced the release of the major "Moon V" update for Genshin Impact. Scheduled to launch on February 25th, the new patch will be special primarily because it sends players back to Mondstadt — the city where many first encountered the world of Teyvat. It is here that a new story event, prepared by the Knights of the Ordo Favonius, will unfold, reuniting familiar characters and atmospheric quest lines.
During the event, travelers will not only reconnect with old allies but also participate in unusual activities. Some heroes will ask players to help them brew drinks, which will be part of a quest chain and add a light, almost festival-like vibe to the proceedings. The developers are leaning into a cozy mood and nostalgia, combining it with fresh mechanics.
One of the main highlights of the update will be the long-awaited arrival of Varka as a playable character. He wields dual swords and excels in a unique combat setup that blends two types of elemental damage at once. This approach opens up additional tactical possibilities in battles and makes Varka a compelling pick for both the story and more challenging encounters.

"Moon V" will also introduce a series of new minigames. Among them is a special photography challenge, requesting players to capture iconic spots in Natlan, Fontaine, and Sumeru. Additionally, strategic defensive play will be tested, in which travelers will have to repel waves of enemies while wisely managing their team's resources and abilities.
Special attention will be given to the "Astral Bound", which will officially bring voice interaction, along with new game modes focused on communication and coordination. The update will also feature other activities, including a Flight Test and a separate Combat Test designed for those seeking extra difficulty.
