Metal Slug Tactics is back on smartphones

The tactical spin-off of the cult Metal Slug series, released on PC in November 2024, is now getting ready for a mobile release. The game is already available for pre-registration in the App Store and Google Play, and the release is scheduled for September 30, 2025. Crunchyroll Games, which previously specialized mainly in anime franchises and mobile RPGs, is responsible for the adaptation for iOS and Android.
Metal Slug Tactics offers a completely different gaming experience compared to the classic arcade shooters of the series. Here, the player will find turn-based battles on isometric maps, deep tactical mechanics and control of a squad of legendary fighters - Marco, Tarma, Fio and Eri. The key to victory is thoughtful planning, competent use of the landscape and the ability to adapt to constantly changing combat conditions.
Each character can be upgraded and unlock new abilities, which is especially important for fights with powerful bosses. At the same time, players note the high replayability of the project - especially in terms of team selection and the desire to earn all the achievements.

The gameplay is reminiscent of the cult Into the Breach, inferior to it in the depth of the script. Repeated playthroughs of MST are needed primarily for the sake of upgrading and collecting heroes, and not for the sake of a branching plot.
Compared to the PC version, the mobile version will also have in-game purchases and possible content restrictions. Nevertheless, for fans of tactics and Metal Slug fans, this is a chance to return to the universe of the game in a new format, right on the smartphone screen.
