Exit 8 amps up its psychological horror with new anomalies
Publisher PLAYISM and KOTAKE CREATE studio have dropped a fresh patch for the mobile and console versions of the psychological horror hit Exit 8. The standout feature is the expansion of the anomaly system — there are now significantly more of them, and they are now much more difficult to recognize at first glance. A similar rollout was previously released on Nintendo Switch and PC earlier this year as part of the promotion for the film adaptation of Exit 8.

The gameplay mechanics still rely on vigilance and keen observation, but with the new patch, they have become less predictable. The main rule remains unchanged: if a player notices an anomaly, they must immediately turn around and go in the opposite direction. If the surrounding area appears "normal," turning back is strictly forbidden. Any mistake and the exit will be lost.

Exit 8

The plot of Exit 8 unfolds in an endless underground subway passage, where the player finds themselves trapped without explanation or clues. To escape, the player must carefully examine the details of the environment: signs, posters, doors, reflections, and the faces of passersby. Anomalies can manifest themselves in both obvious distortions and subtle misalignments — from missing interior elements to disturbing visual inconsistencies.

The update has significantly increased the psychological tension. According to player feedback, the anomalies have become sharper and more devious with some of them directly reference events and imagery from the film. This complicates familiar scenarios and forces you question and reassess even areas you once trusted.

Exit 8 stays a compact yet intense horror experience in the walking simulator format, where fear is built not on jump scares, but on a sense of unease, repetitive routes, and constant doubt about what’s real.
