MMORPG Throne and Liberty may be released on smartphones
Initially, NCSoft, in collaboration with Amazon Games, announced the launch of the MMORPG Throne and Liberty on computers, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but stated that they were not going to develop a mobile version because the game was aimed at Western gamers. And they, in turn, prefer consoles.
But, apparently, Throne and Liberty Mobile will see the light of day, perhaps in the very near future. What does this indicate?
Firstly, the statement from a representative of the Korean company itself about its readiness to begin development in earnest, although “there is no final decision yet.” But, as you know, Koreans are secretive people, and it is not a fact that they would have declassified all their cards in advance.
Secondly, an unnamed insider told the South Korean portal MTN that NCSoft has high hopes for this project and is investing significant resources in creating the game. Perhaps the change in course is due to the arrival of a new producer after the old one was removed due to the financial failure of his chosen strategy.
Thirdly, there is information about the visit of Korean developers to the United States to discuss with Amazon Games the specifics of releasing the game for Western audiences, and such steps are not taken while the idea is in the air. Consequently, the matter is at least in full swing, if not approaching a denouement.
So, all fans of mobile MMORPGs – we are waiting. However, it is not yet clear what exactly: it is unknown whether Throne and Liberty will become a separate client or an adaptation of the current version (the latter is more likely, as indicated by auto-combat and an interface suitable for the mobile format), whether it will be released on Android or iOS, and when this significant event will happen. It is only known that the game is created on the Unreal Engine 4, but this is all the specific information.
