Snapdragon 855 Plus - a chip for future flagships

Qualcomm introduced its new Snapdragon 855 Plus platform, which has become a slightly improved older version of Snapdragon 855. As the company itself says, this decision to release an improved version of the chip, due to the need for increased power, high performance, virtual reality and 5G. As you already understood, the new Snapdragon 855 Plus chip was just an improved version of Snapdragon 855 and got almost identical characteristics. The processor has 8 cores, one high-performance Kryo 485 core (based on ARM Cortex A76) received a clock frequency of 2.96 GHz, compared to 2.84 GHz on the Snapdragon 855. The remaining cores have the same frequency as in the previous chip, 3 Kryo 485 cores up to 2.42 GHz and 4 Kryo 385 to 1.8 GHz. Also, there is a difference in the performance of the Adreno 640 video accelerator. Thanks to overclocking, we managed to increase performance by as much as 15%, and the frequency was 672 MHz. The processor is based on 7-nm process technology, has its own Snapdragon X24 LTE Cat.20 modem. The developers took care of the gaming component and provided them with technologies for increasing productivity: Game Jank Reducer, Game Fast Loader, Game AntiCheat Extensions. It is expected to appear on the market in the second half of 2019, and the first lucky ones will probably be: ASUS ROG Phone 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, OnePlus 7T and Xiaomi Mi Mix 4.
